About Nicholas
Dr Nicholas Harris is a clinical psychologist. He has completed a PhD in social psychology, after which he worked as an academic in various universities. Nicholas has lectured and course coordinated psychology courses for undergraduate psychology, Master of Clinical Psychology and Master of Business Psychology postgraduate students, supervised Honours, Master’s and PhD research projects, and has published research papers, textbooks and presented at international conferences.
Nicholas has also obtained a Master of Clinical Psychology, as well as a Bachelor of Psychology degree with first-class Honours and a university medal. In his clinical work, Nicholas enjoys working across the lifespan. While Nicholas has a passion for working with children and their families, he has also worked with adults both individually and in group settings. Nicholas has won an award for writing, developing, and delivering a school-based program, and has experience in running psychological group programs for children and adults. Nicholas has engaged with clients in a school, hospital, and private practice setting.
Nicholas has a warm personality, aiming to connect to his clients. He builds rapport to ensure his clients feel comfortable, safe, and connected. His non-judgmental and empathic style enable Nicholas to work with clients from all walks of life. Nicholas has worked with clients experiencing worries/anxiety, low mood/depression, grief/loss, relationship concerns, and parenting concerns. Nicholas uses an eclectic approach, meaning he draws upon many psychological approaches, including cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, mindfulness, and brief solution focus therapy. He individualises treatment to meet the needs of each client.
In his spare time, Nicholas enjoys watching and playing sports. His favourite is playing cricket, while his favourite team is the Geelong Cats in the AFL (do not judge him for his poor taste). Nicholas is currently teaching himself to play the keyboard, likes to read, and plays video games. He also enjoys stand-up comedy and board games.
